About
Free calculators for yard and landscape projects, built to answer the questions you usually only get answered at the supply yard.
Why this site exists
HaulOnce started with a simple thought: these are the tools I wish I had when I lived in a house with a yard. With a partner who always seemed to have the next yard project lined up, there was always a question that a basic calculator could not answer. How many bags is that, really? Is it cheaper to get it delivered? Will it fit in the car, or will it take three trips?
I work in supply chain, and those are supply chain questions: how much you need, how it is packaged, what it weighs, how it moves, and what it costs at each quantity. So I built the calculators I would have wanted.
What I am, and what I am not
I am not a landscaper, contractor, or engineer, and this site does not pretend otherwise. What I bring is the habit of turning a rough need into an order you can actually place. The material facts come from people who know them: university extension services, manufacturer data sheets, and safety handbooks. Each page lists its sources.
What makes these calculators different
- Quantities rounded to how things are really sold: whole bags, half-yard scoops, sod and paver pallets.
- Bags or bulk, worked out with your own prices, including how many bags you would be lifting.
- A check against your vehicle's payload, not just the size of the bed, and how many trips it takes.
- Measuring on a satellite photo of your own address, with cut-outs for the house, patio, or beds.
- Whole projects as one list: every layer, the fabric, the edging, and the dirt you dig out.
How we handle numbers
Prices on the site are examples for you to replace, and we never present them as local prices. Local price medians appear only after at least five real visitors in an area have shared what they paid, and we never add made-up reports. Read the formulas and assumptions on How we calculate, and every value we use on the material weights chart.
These are planning estimates. For anything that matters (a big order, a structural slab, a heavy load), confirm with your supplier, a professional, or your vehicle's door-jamb sticker.
